When December arrives, St. Brendan's becomes a hive of activities to prepare for the celebration of Christmas.
Christmas is always celebrated through the arts in St. Brendan's.
Favourite annual activities include:
- A Christmas concert in the school hall
- Musical nativity plays
- Carol singing in Sligo to raise money for Sligo Social Services
- A whole-school Christmas Art Day
- Advent assembly on 8th December
- Collection for the Vincent de Paul Food Appeal
- Visits to local cinema for a private Christmas movie showing for the whole school.
- Trips to the theatre for a live Christmas show
- Trips to local cafes for hot chocolate and a bun
- Walking trips to visit the Crib in Sligo Cathedral
- Class visits to St. John's Hospital and Cregg House
- Parents Association Fundraisers eg Design-a-Card scheme, craft fair, raffles etc
- A free Christmas Annual presented to every child in the school
It's a jammed-packed schedule throughout December but our Christmas programme is a highly-valued and much enjoyed part life in St. Brendan's NS.
