Free School Books Agreement Form

Textbooks/Stationery, Pupil Insurance, Payments

Dear Parent/Guardian,

As part of the Government’s Free Books Scheme, the school will again be purchasing your child’s textbook and workbooks for the 2026-2027 school year.

Unfortunately, the grant does not cover the additional costs that many schools face. For instance, the grant falls short of covering the expenses of purchasing arts and crafts materials for pupils as well as photocopying and stationary costs.

To ease the burden of parents getting stationary (pencils, crayons, glue, scissors, copies etc) this year, the school will place a bulk order so that all pupils’ stationary requirements are met. Please note items that will not be covered in this order will be: twistables/markers/calculator/maths set/headphones/pencil case/school bag.

We request that parents contribute to the cost of the school buying stationary as well as arts/crafts and photocopying.

The breakdown of the requested contribution will be as follows

Cost per child: €44.00

€10:00       stationary

€25.00       arts/crafts and photocopying

€9.00         school insurance (optional)

The contribution required for a family of two pupils is €60.00 (including school insurance)

The contribution for a family with three or more pupils is €85.00 (including school insurance)

Please fill out the attached form if you wish to avail of pupil insurance for your child(ren). €9.00 for school insurance will provide insurance cover for your child 24 hours a day for both school activities and social, domestic and pleasure activities (including during school holidays).

How to make the payment:

A payment link will be sent directly to you via the aladdin connect app. If you have not downloaded the app, please do so immediately.

The school secretary is happy to assist you in setting you up on the app, should you experience any difficulty.

Please note that the deadline for payment this year will be the 26th of June to make this payment.

We are aware that families are still using the old bank account ending 659 to lodge money, please delete this from your records as we no longer have access to this account.

If you are experiencing difficulties, please call the school and a payment plan can be organised.

To fully equip your child for school you need to:

  1. Purchase a school uniform (tracksuit) and several white polo shirts from Kool Kidz or other shops in Sligo town. It is worthwhile having a spare uniform as spillages and accidents can happen during the busy school days.
  2. Purchase a raincoat (light for Autumn, heavier for winter) and shoes/runners suitable for an active and often wet playground. Shoes that are too large can pose a hazard on the playground.
  3. Purchase a lunch box to send in a small snack each day for your child to eat at the first break time. Children will get a free hot meal at lunchtime each day and unlimited fresh water throughout the school day.
  4. A schoolbag is optional as each child will have a homework folder
  5. Purchase a pencil case which will remain in the school for the year. It is a good idea to keep additional stationery supplies at home for homework purposes.
  6. Optional contribution to Allianz Pupil Personal Insurance Plan as detailed above
  7. Contribute to the art and photocopying costs detailed above

If you are experiencing difficulties, please call the school and a payment plan can be organised.

We really appreciate your continued support for our school.

Kind regards,

Ellie Kennedy
