Cardboard Pinball Machines
We completed our first STEAM challenge of the year in our class. Do you know what STEAM is?
STEAM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. ... These are the innovators, educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century!
Our first task in 5th and 6th Class was to plan, build and decorate a working cardboard pinball machine. For the first lesson, we looked at some inspiration online through images and videos. In our groups we planned what we would use and drew some rough diagrams in our STEAM journals. We began building our pinball machines.
For the second lesson, we started to decorate and look at the aesthetics of our machines. We added some personal touches. Then we showed the class our piece and Ms Parslow had a turn trying to play our machines!
What do you think of our masterpieces? We cannot wait for our next challenge!
