Clay Pinch Pots
During the month of May, Junior and Senior Infants had great fun working and experimenting with clay as part of the clay strand of the visual arts curriculum. First they learned what the a potter does and how a clay pot is made on a potter's wheel. Next they learned how a pinch pot is made. Then they set about creating their own by practicing their techniques with playdough-squeezing, rolling, pinching, squashing and prodding. By the time they moved to real clay they were well practiced. After forming their pots out of clay they then painted and glazed them and were delighted with their finished pots. Some of the children were kind enough to make their pot for another family member. Aren't they a creative, thoughtful and caring bunch!
