This year our class were very lucky to be chosen for the BLAST Arts in Education Residency Programme 2023/2024. We were paired with a wonderful artist, Anna Leask, who specialises in photography, specifically cyanotype photography.
The children learned the fundamental skills of photography and how to use tools on their tablets. The learning resources used were between PowerPoint presentations, video tutorials, apps such as InFrame and Snapseed, and a walk around the estate our school is in taking photos and gathering resources such as twigs, berries, etc. The children also made their own photography tools to help them with their iPads, such as light reflectors, tripods, and viewfinders.
The project was very successful in engaging all pupils and achieving the learning outcomes. The children had ample opportunities to investigate and learn through practical, creative and hands-on activities, developing their creativity through new learning opportunities, involving the outdoors and nature.
We really appreciate all the effort that Anna put into the project from start to finish, and we hope to work with her again in the future!
